Abstract

It is stated that equity is considered by the EU as a key condition that the education system should provide for the development of talents and the realization of the potential of the individual regardless of social background. In the European education area, equity is defined as the degree to which individuals can benefit from the education system in terms of opportunities, access, attitudes and outcomes. Equitable education systems ensure that educational outcomes do not depend on socio-economic background and other factors that create a disadvantageous educational environment. It is concluded that the concept of equity is an important component of the EU education and training policy. The current system of ensuring equity in education requires further research to identify opportunities for use in Ukraine in the context of integration into the European educational space.
