Abstract

The article provides a theoretical analysis of the provision of primary psychological assistance to war victims. Mental development is distorted, instead of healthy mechanisms, compensatory mechanisms arise, which in turn require alignment, and so, circle after circle, distortions appear in the entire structure of the personality. As a result of the trauma, a distorted picture of the world, distorted perception, inadequate assessment of oneself, others and surrounding events is formed, all this prevents one from successfully navigating society and adapting to its rules and requirements. Violations concern almost all spheres of personality: motivation, reflection, empathy, critical thinking, locus of control, values and priorities, self-esteem and the general image of the self.
