Abstract

This article is devoted analyzing the domestic labor market regarding the demand for specialists in the specialty 011 «Educational, pedagogical sciences». The author substantiates the specificity of the teaching profession in the context of modern conditions of reforming the industry and factors by which it is adjusted, namely: conditions of professional activity, society’s attitude to the teaching profession and the teacher’s functions, external and internal factors that directly affect the quality of the performance of professional duties (the COVID-19 pandemic, martial law, migration processes, etc.). Attention is drawn to the fact that the professional activity of a teacher has great social significance because it is about the formation of a human personality and the preparation of the younger generation for life and work in modern society. The article provides data from the European Center for the Development of Vocational Education (Cedefop) as for the employment prospects of specialists in the field of education until 2030. The number of vacancies, the level of average salary, the most in-demand positions and the list of requirements that are currently being put forward to specialists in the specialty 011 «Educational, pedagogical sciences» are analyzed in the article. The author determined that the modern labor market needs specialists in teaching professions, however employers prefer teachers who are ready to work in secondary general education establishments, preschool education establishments, or with children with special needs. The most fundamental factors influencing the choice of a teaching profession by young people today are determined: salary level, the specifics of work with the young generation, a set of requirements for a modern teacher, popularity/ unpopularity of the teaching profession.
