Abstract

Considering the adaptation of veterans to civilian life from the standpoint of socio-cultural approach (an attempt to present the adaptation of veterans as a process similar to the acculturation of migrants) seems a promising area of research. In adapting the J. Berry questionnaire to assess the adaptation of veterans, it seems appropriate to rely on two parameters: 1) willingness to interact with the civilian population, learn its norms and values, trying to act in a way that is approved in society; 2) the ability in the new (civil) social environment to meet their individual needs, self-realization, to form a integrated and continuous identity, to receive recognition.
