Abstract

The article is dedicated to one of the current problems of modern psychological and pedagogical theory and educational practice – the potential of «case-study» technology in the formation of socially successful personality in general secondary education. The researcher noted the popularity of case-study technology in most areas of modern scientific knowledge, emphasized the lack of consistent terminological definition of this technology in modern psychological and pedagogical research, clarified the essence of the concepts of «case» and «case-study» technology in the formation of socially successful personality of the pupil». The paper also defines the purpose and objectives of case-study technology in the context of developing the qualities and competencies of a pupil necessary for social success, the principles which this technology is based on in the practice of forming socially successful personality in general secondary education institutions, the basis of case-study technology, and the difference between cases and tasks. The author focuses on various types of information that can serve as sources of the case, and modeling the situation of the case, and noted that the case promotes the development of pupils’ skills of intensive selection of information, updating knowledge, building a logical sequence of their reasoning and causation. The proposed research emphasizes that the introduction of «case-study» technology in the educational process of secondary education is accompanied by the creation of «success situations», with preference given to the organization of various important for the formation of socially successful pupil personality, namely: creative, research, analytical, cognitive-communicative. For this purpose, various methods are used, in particular, the method of incident, method of modeling, method of system analysis, problem method, method of parsing business correspondence, method of description, method of classification, method of imaginary or mental experiment, method of game design, method of role-playing method of discussion, the method of «brainstorming», their introduction ensures the effectiveness of «case-study» technology in the formation of a socially successful personality of the pupil.
