Abstract

The article focuses readers' attention on the essence of the concept of "bilingualism", which is interpreted as the ability to speak two or more languages. The importance of taking into account the specifics of teaching Ukrainian as a second language to replenish the passive and active vocabulary of students is emphasized. The peculiarities of enriching the vocabulary of the Ukrainian language of students of 3-4 grades of secondary schools with bilingual languages in the conditions of bilingualism on the basis of the competence approach are described, the main differences of the method of enriching the vocabulary of students of 3-4 grades of Ukrainian as a second and native language are listed.
