Abstract

The theory of curriculum as one of the theories of the content of education in terms of its essential characteristics is studied. The tendency of curriculum theory disseminating in the world educational space and intensification of the use of the curriculum format in the practice of structuring the content of education by countries is stated. The mission of the curriculum theory is highlighted, which is to determine the values / results that should form the curriculum; sources of decision-making; algorithm for curriculum development on the basis of validity, logic, continuity. It is concluded that curriculum theory is positioned as a source / guide for defining curricular content (goals / objectives, content, forms and methods of instruction, technologies for assessing student achievements) and curricular process (planning, development, implementation, monitoring of curriculum implementation).
