Abstract

The aim of the study is to analyze the standardization process as a mechanism for ensuring the quality of teacher education in Turkey. It was found that the standards of candidates for the position of teacher focus on learning outcomes that reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities of an effective teacher. It is revealed that the main goal of the current reform of the Turkish education system is to prepare students as scientifically literate citizens who are able to use scientific facts in their daily lives and gain knowledge about the nature of science and technology, scientific thinking processes. It is concluded that the training of Turkish teachers for relevant education is aimed at using other types of approaches to teaching, based on constructivist theory and approaches to research.
