Abstract
In primary school, the research of concepts is an integral part of all subject competencies. Therefore, creating of the visual structure "Portrait" – a simple visual recognizable image of any concept (creature, object, phenomenon, etc.), which reflects its core characteristics-should be considered as students’ cross – cutting skills. In the lessons of literacy, Ukrainian language and reading, the visual structure "portrait" can be used to form skills of processing texts of various types; researching of language units and phenomena in order to master the initial linguistic knowledge and norms of the Ukrainian language; development of thinking, speech, imagination, cognitive and literary-creative abilities of schoolchildren. Tasks on creating of visualizations-portraits diversify the lessons and require a minimum of time.
