Abstract

The article examines an individual’s psychological well-being. The importance of this phenomenon study is substantiated, the main approaches determining its content and structure are outlined. The article states that psychological well-being is based on an individual’s subjective emotional evaluation of his/her own life and his/her place in the world. An individual’s ability to critically evaluate his/herself and arbitrarily direct and rebuild his/her own actions, to observe socially valuable and personally meaningful norms are manifestations of the basic values. Without high well-being, an individual cannot become a creative, socially responsible personality with a critical attitude to the environment, awareness of his/her place and role among others. The article proves that psychological well-being can be achieved provided that an individual, in addition to his/her ability to adequately reflect and model an existing situation, is able to transform his/her own activities (external and internal) according to the model predicting the situation.
