Abstract

In the article, the current ecological crisis is considered in the value crisis contexts, and the global nature of the challenges – as the result of a pragmatic attitude to nature and excessive consumption of resources to meet human needs. Two types of environmental competence are considered – «professional» and «everyday». It is emphasized that the latter is inherent in all citizens as key. Attention is drawn to the need to modernize the content and methods of formation of environmental competence of students and its value components.
