Abstract

The theses cover the issue of using Ukrainian holidays by Ukrainian teachers at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries as a means to bring the then Russification public school to the natural spiritual needs of the Ukrainian child. In this regard, the book of the Ukrainian educator, author of textbooks, poet, novelist, playwright Spiridon Cherkasenko "Christmas tree. How to organize children's holidays "(1912), which became one of the first Ukrainian methodological developments that were to help the teacher prepare such an extracurricular activity.
