Abstract

Sustainable professional development of teachers is a key factor in improving the quality of teaching. SINUS uses a problem-oriented approach to improving the learning environment, in which teachers are seen as learning experts who are able to work together.To develop and improve their own educational and methodological base. The activities of the participants take place within the modules that relate to key problem areas - teaching mathematics and science. SINUS is an example of a professional development approach based on positional learning. In 2008, SINUS was recommended by the European Commission as a model for improving natural education in Europe. In Germany, the SINUS approach has become a "model" for renewed science and mathematics education - at the level of ministries of education, school administrations, teacher education, teachers and research in the field of teaching and learning.
