Abstract
The author of the article makes an attempt to analyze the current state of retirement-aged people in the labor market in Ukraine and their role in the social development of the country. The theoretical analysis of the problem is carried out, particularly the features of successful aging as a modern world trend are identified. A brief statistical analysis of the demographic situation in Ukraine and the world is presented with a focus on the segment of the retired. There is conducted an overview of international recommendations and the national legislative provision of the policy in promoting the elderly's employment. The results of the research concerning the role of pensioners' potential in the modern labor market are highlighted.
