Abstract
The role of the school textbook in the development of pupils' creative abilities is revealed in the article. The role of educational texts and educational tasks in the implementation of the textbook development function has been clarified. Requirements for educational text are described as a means of developing pupils' creative abilities. The textbook on Ukrainian literature for pupils of the 10th grade (profile level) is analyzed for the purpose of their developmental function.
