Abstract
The study highlights the real state, conditions of developmental functioning, prospects for improvement, managerial, personnel and innovative-methodological resources of the psychological service of the educational system of Ukraine, which has been successfully developing since 1991, and has undergone several important stages of its institutional formation. The basic purpose, tasks, principles, types, directions of activity of the named service are defined, as well as its structural and functional organization, distribution of functions and powers of professionals working in its staff list, rights and duties of the psychologist (practical psychologist) and social workers are defined. as the basic units of psychological support of the educational process in secondary and higher education institutions, encompassing all participants of learning, education, social and personal self-realization.
