Abstract
The paper formulated theoretical basis of ethnic design in the process of training design and art history specialists. Decorative arts and design is considered as sub-disciplines of integrated course "Ethnic design". The need for professional training of designers and art experts on the basis of education and culture synthesis, forming their constructive attitude to ethnic design is substantiated. Some scientific positions of L. Gumilev and V. Vernadsky theories’ are formulated. The composition of the scientific school as system of pedagogical design is offered. It is highlighted the social significance of national design in foreign countries, specialty of ethnic design as a new teaching method of design creativity, the ability of students-ethnic designers and characteristic features of these abilities. The examples of good experience in ethnic design teaching of students in higher artistic educational institutions of Ukraine are revealed.
