Abstract

Theses of the readers' accentuated attention on the achievements of polyglots and positive aspects of bilingualism consider the essence of lexical competence. The current Ukrainian language textbooks for the 1st grade of general secondary education with Hungarian, Romanian and Russian are analyzed for the content of exercises and tasks for vocabulary work. Tips for optimizing the vocabulary work in the Ukrainian language of students of the 1st grade of the WSS with language learning of national minorities on the basis of the competence approach were expressed.
