Abstract

The urgency of introducing such a component as intercultural literacy in Ukrainian school education is grounded. It is proposed, taking into account the Ukrainian cultural-national context, to develop a number of elective courses for various age groups of schoolstudents. The courses must be based on the idea of ​​the American scientist D. Hirsch about the need for so-called background knowledge for the formation of a cultural person.
