Abstract

Following the actual request of the socio-political situation in the state, the article examines the features of militarians’ experience of loss on the front line. The loss is seen as a multidimensional phenomenon that goes beyond understanding loss in the traditional coordinates of death. It can manifest itself in other, no less important, sociopsychological or material contexts. It was found that the actual loss of important objects can lead to psychosomatization, negativism, dispiritedness, depression, and can significantly reduce militarian’s tolerance of stress. It negatively affects militarian’s selfefficacy and productivity necessary for building constructive coping strategies at war. The main types of military losses are determined, which are physical, social and psychological ones. The main modalities of losses that cause reduction of militarian's selfefficacy level (lack of sleep, loss of motivation to stay at war and death of friends) are identified.
