Shor, and others. The brief historical review of the evolution of the essence of giftedness is presented; types of giftedness and manifestations of gifted behavior are outlined. Attention is drawn to the fact that giftedness has a wide variety of definitions that reflect closely related processes used to identify it, to select gifted children, and to make decisions about program goals and procedures for their education, upbringing and development. Potentially, everyone possesses giftedness, but it is possible to manifest it only under certain conditions. The differences between gifted and potentially gifted personality, types of giftedness according to the triarchic theory of intelligence are presented.
