Abstract
The monograph highlights the development of reading books for elementary school students in Ukraine from the middle of the nineteenth century, reveals the content of texts in different historical periods and changes in social formations. And on this background the formation of the personality of children of junior school age is shown. Addressed to teachers of higher pedagogical educational institutions, students, teachers of elementary classes, and teachers of advanced training courses for teachers.
