Abstract

The author of the article draws attention to the scope of texts for reading in the context of renovation of the curricular and programs, which deems to be important for modern schoolchildren. The level of children’s aesthetic perception and their literary skillfulness depend on the texts they read. The author analyzes the whole range of texts written by the authors enlisted both in the previous programs and the up-to date curriculum. Special notice is given to the modern authors’ literary works for children. Both large and little literary forms are analyzed. The necessity of including some of the literary works into the curriculum is criticized. School textbooks are deemed to be main books, so there shouldn’t be scribblers’ and not valuable works there. Some of the included authors write for teenagers and youth. Some of them made their début in 2015 and 2016. Should the new works and the young authors be introduced into the curriculum and is it ethical to place them in one line with the classical writers and well-known names such as Pavlychko D., Kostenko L., Ivanenko O., OleksandrOles, Nestaiko V.? The author of the article strongly believes that each literary work should stand the test of time, be approved by children, be properly reviewed, have references, etc.
