Abstract

The article highlighted the state of the school primary education in the period of the formation of the national educational system in Ukraine (1917-1920). The sources of the geographical knowledge in the native primary school within this period ware analyzed, namely: the curriculums and programs on geography, the textbooks and the school maps were analyzed. The content of the textbooks on geography for the primary schools was revealed, their device as to the organization of assimilation and illustrative material was described. The advantages and disadvantages of the sources of the geographical knowledge for the primary school of 1917-1920 were described.
