Abstract
This article covers own initial experience of the first year of teaching the subject "Ukrainian Sign Language". Presented facts of the introduction of the specified subject, namely: incorrect interpretation of the lexical meaning of the word, which is formed in children with hearing impairment, based only on the verbal language, timeliness and expediency of the introduction of a new subject for the general development of deaf students is highlighted.
