Abstract
The author briefly reveals the modern approaches to the education of secondary school pupils. She focuses the attention on the traditional and non-traditional technologies. Traditional ones are considered as integrity, fundamentality, consistency, humanitarization and humanization etc., and non-traditional ones are information technologies, which quickly wide-spreading over the world (multimedia, Internet). The educational system is designed to fulfill the needs of society with subsystems that carry out the task of teaching, educating and developing a person. The main task of education is to provide the subjects of the educational process with fundamental knowledge of the fundamentals of science and their preparation for life in society. A high school should prepare a highly professional specialist for professional activities. Successful implementation of the tasks set before by any educational institution provides a high level of educational process, high professionalism of pedagogical staff of any level. Theories that deny the relations between education and social transformations ignore the subjective experience of a person, in particular his ability to development/self-development and change the environment through influence on it, involve the transition to change. It should be noted that competence is ideal, normative and objective, which simulates the properties that need to be formed in the individual or describes their semantic content; and competency characterizes the real qualities that belong to the individual, are objective in nature, can occur with it transformation, and are emotional by their nature.
