Abstract

In the article the author analyzed the main contemporary approaches to the development of university rankings. The rankings are observed as alternative mechanism of evaluation of quality of university education, which became very popular and influential during last two decades. The main criteria and indicators of the most influential international university rankings (ARWU, THE, QS, Webometrics) are presented with the stress on recent innovations and possibilities of implementation such approaches in Ukraine. The main approaches regarding development of future national ranking of Ukrainian universities are also provided by author.
