Abstract
The author provides an analysis of the status of national sign languages in different countries of the European Society based on the material of the Council of Europe, UN reports. The author explores Deaf status in Europe on the situation of recognition and using national sign languages, that changes strategically and tactically. Drawn attention to establishing cooperation with the institutions of civic society, which are deaf community organizations. In Ukraine, a Ukrainian Deaf Association helped to create organizations that are relevant to the development and usage of Ukrainian Sign Language. The paper describes systematic and consistent work towards studying and popularization of Ukrainian sign language at the project activity of the Sign Language Laboratory experts and Ukrainian Deaf Community members. The results are highlighted at the international site.
