Abstract
The article discloses historical and logical consideration of methodical acquisitions of Ukrainian pedagogical science, which developes the terms and conditions of formation as well as the specific trends of literary studies at schools of pre-reform period (1970-1984). The functioning and forming of traditional and innovative methodical ideas are also traced particularly in relation to the methods of study of a literary work and the theory of literature at school, as well as the psychology of reading and understanding of a literary work, specific features of expressive reading, development of independent and creative activity of students at the lessons of literature, adaptation of the system of educational tasks and the development of student-readers thinking, ways and means of intellectualization of the lesson of literature, aesthetic development of schoolchildren by means of artistic word.
