Abstract

The article describes the results of the research conducted in 2011–2013 by the Laboratory of Vocational Education and Career Guidance of the Institute of Problems on Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine The research aim is to analyze the content and pedagogical tools for training senior pupils to professional self-determination under conditions of school profile education. It was determined that the contents of this process must be implemented in three blocks: the knowledge of the world of professions (professional activities and their demands to the individual on today's labor market), the image of “I” (the knowledge of the individual psychological characteristics, capabilities, and claims, the direction of self-improvement to the level of requirements of the chosen profession), a technology of professional self-determination (the ability to build the closest individual educational trajectory, adjusting the basic and reserve vocational plans). The leading educational means of formation of readiness of senior school pupils to professional self-determination under conditions of profile school education have been defined as follows: a course of vocational orientation «Building a Career” for students of 10-11th grades, complex research tasks, professional test in the form of design work, specially arranged forms of work (debates, parties, panel discussions), meeting with graduating students of the institution; excursions in the State Employment Agency, etc. The expediency of expansion of scientific research in this area, and extension studies in 2014–2016 on professional self-determination of students in the educational district are substantiated.
