Abstract

The Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic continuum links arterial hypertension with obesity, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and chronic kidney disease, creating a high risk of target-organ damage and the development of cardiovascular complications. The aim of the study was to examine the clinical and metabolic characteristics of patients with Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic syndrome (CKMs), analyze the structure of antihypertensive therapy and the level of adherence to pharmacotherapy - taking into account gender differences - and identify potential ways to optimize pharmacotherapy and enhance the effectiveness of cardiovascular prevention. An observational cross-sectional study involving patients with CKMs was conducted. The study results revealed a high prevalence of obesity (77.24%), dyslipidemia (62.07%), metabolic syndrome (16.55%), and early signs of nephropathy (microalbuminuria – 42.76%), confirming the formation of a unified cardiorenal-metabolic continuum. A statistically significant association was found between gender and adherence to antihypertensive therapy (χ²(2)=8.172; p=0.017; Cramer’s V=0.237; p=0.017). The obtained results indicate an insufficient level of adherence to antihypertensive therapy among patients with CKD.
