Popovych Y. O. Psychological conditions for the formation of constructive coping behaviour of women affected by domestic violence. – Qualified scientific work on the rights of the manuscript. Thesis for the degree of a scientific degree of the doctor of philosophy on a speciality 053 Psychology (05 – Social and Behavioural Sciences). State Institution of Higher Education “University of Education Management” National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv, 2024. Annotation content The dissertation is devoted to the theoretical substantiation and experimental study of the psychological conditions for the formation of constructive coping behavior of women affected by domestic violence. Coping behavior of women victims of domestic violence is chosen as the object of the dissertation research, psychological conditions of formation of constructive coping behavior of women victims of domestic violence are the subject. The purpose of the study was to theoretically analyse and empirically investigate the psychological conditions of the formation of coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence; to develop and test a programme of psychocorrection of coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence, stimulating its constructive side. In the dissertation “Psychological conditions for the formation of constructive coping behaviour of women affected by domestic violence”, the research objectives were fulfilled in accordance with the goal: 1. Based on the theoretical analysis of scientific literature, the main psychological approaches to the study of coping behaviour of a personality are determined. 2. The factors of destructive coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence are analysed. 3. The theoretical model of the formation of constructive coping behaviour of victims of domestic violence is considered. 4. The peculiarities of constructive coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence and psychological conditions of its formation are empirically investigated. 5. A programme for the formation of constructive coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence has been developed and tested. The study was conducted in 2021–2024 on the basis of the Kyiv Resilience Center, the Services for children and families of Desnyanska district state administration in the city of Kyiv, the Kyiv City Center for Gender Equality, Prevention and Counteraction of Violence. 173 participants took part in the study. A set of theoretical, empirical/statistical and formative methods were used to fulfill the tasks: theoretically, the research paper analyses the main psychological approaches to the study of coping behaviour of a personality; considers the psychological characteristics of women victims of domestic violence and the factors of formation of psychological adaptability, behavioural patterns, as well as gender as such and gender stereotypes; conducts a theoretical analysis of the factors of destructive coping behaviour and psychological conditions for the formation of constructive coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence; empirically investigated the features of constructive coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence and the psychological conditions of its formation; analysed the components of coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence and women who have not suffered from domestic violence; investigated the interrelationships of components and conditions of formation of constructive coping behaviour of women, women victims of domestic violence and women who have not suffered from domestic violence; experimentally developed and tested a correctional programme for the formation of constructive coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence, as well as analysed the effectiveness of implementation. The research paper analyses the influence of various factors on the formation of coping behaviour, starting with parenting styles, parent-child relationships; reactions to stressful situations, choice of coping; indicators of tolerance / intolerance to uncertainty as important components of the formation of adaptive constructs of behavioural norms; presence of codependent behaviour patterns as important factors influencing the choice/ignoring of overcoming difficult life circumstances; level of self-attitude as an important indicator of confidence and active position in the processes of overcoming; presence/absence of social and psychological support, which directly affects women's psychological well-being and self-realisation. It has been statistically proven that positive self-attitude, tolerance for uncertainty, problem-oriented strategies, quality planning and external support influence the formation of constructive coping behavior, improvement of quality of life, use of greater resources and a salutogenic approach to solving stressful situations. The program for the formation of constructive coping behavior of women victims of domestic violence was experimentally developed and tested, which is designed to correct the destructive components of choice, because the long-term traumatization of such women partially deforms a healthy approach to solving problems, tolerating the very fact of violence in the family, social realization and other spheres. The leading task was to encourage a three-component approach in the formation of constructive coping behavior – cognitive, affective and conative. The program "Formation of constructive coping behavior of women affected by domestic violence" in its structure includes psychocorrective modules by component: 1. Cognitive component (module I). Communication scenarios; boundaries; "No" conditions; communication; personal resources: resilience; resource aspects. 2. Affective component (module II). Self-stabilisation; emotional balance and body signals; conscious emotions: my control/control over me, my allies I and my desires; salutogenesis, value, tolerance to uncertainty. 3. Conative component (module III). Trust; autonomy; psychomotor dynamics: social models of coping behaviour, roles; non-conflict coping. The obtained results of the approbation of the program stated that the created safe working conditions, active participation in the performance of assigned tasks, personal efforts, group dynamics of the experimental group led to positive shifts in the formation of constructive coping behavior, as well as changes in the indicators of input data obtained before the start of the experiment. In contrast, in the control group, there was no significant difference in indicators of the formation of constructive coping behavior either before or after the formative experiment. The scientific novelty of the dissertation was that it: For the first time, the conditions for the formation of constructive coping behaviour of women victims of domestic violence were systematised and generalised; the content of the components of the formation of constructive coping behavior of women affected by domestic violence is substantiated: a cognitive, conscious approach; affective / emotional; conative / behavioral; causal relationships of the formation of coping behavior were revealed: the specificity of coping behavior of women affected by domestic violence was examined through the prism of basic parent-child relations in the woman's family; considered an important component of influence on the formation of coping strategies, tolerance of violence through a codependent model of behavior, as a consequence of early traumatization of victims; the close connection of restrictive coping strategies with indicators of intolerance to uncertainty is revealed; the influence of parenting styles on the level of self-esteem, as well as increased anxiety of affected women, was determined; determined psychological conditions that will stimulate the formation of constructive coping behavior of women affected by domestic violence: a salutogenic approach to solving problems, resilience, healthy relationships / relationships, tolerance for uncertainty and positive self-attitude; the correctional program "Formation of constructive coping behavior of women affected by domestic violence" was developed and tested and its effectiveness was proven; deepened knowledge about coping – behavior of women affected by domestic violence, psychological conditions and the specifics of the formation of a constructive form; for further development, the theoretical basis for the formation of constructive coping – behavior of women victims of domestic violence was obtained: a) external conditions – safe environment, freedom of choice, independent economic activity; b) internal conditions – positive self-attitude, tolerance to uncertainty, correct relationships, good health (psychological wellbeing). The practical significance of the obtained research results lies in the further possibility of using the determined and confirmed psychological conditions for the formation of constructive coping behavior of women affected by domestic violence. Diagnostic methods, as well as the tested program, can be useful in psychodiagnostic and psychocorrective activities, implemented by providers of social and psychological services for victims of domestic violence, with the aim of creating favorable conditions and factors stimulating the search, rehabilitation, and a positive perspective of leaving the circle of violence. The developed and tested author's methods can be useful when determining the levels of self-attachment and the influence of parenting styles in the ancestral family on coping behavior. The obtained research results can become a basis for teaching trainings / lectures "Formation of constructive coping behavior in victims of domestic violence", for providers of social and psychological services for victims of domestic violence, as well as studying related research. Prospects for further research are to study the psychological conditions that influence the formation of constructive coping behaviour not only for women but also for men who have suffered from domestic violence. The gender aspect of an in-depth study of the factors of stress resistance, positive self-attitude, leadership, tolerance to uncertainty and readiness to find effective ways to overcome difficult life circumstances seems appropriate.
