Abstract
The role of the pedagogical theory and practice in the formation of the civil values of the Ukrainian youth was determined. It was emphasized on the creative pro-civic activity of the high schoolchildren as a subject of civic education and upbringing and a factor for the formation of civic values. A special attention is paid at the collision of the issue of civic education and upbringing of the young generation in the Ukrainian school and in the family. The opportunities for the development of the system of civic education and upbringing by means of the coordination of the efforts of a school, a family, pupils, youth’s parties, civic youth organizations, etc. were defined. A conclusion on the necessity of the implementation of the values and the instructions of the middle class representatives was made as they are the basis for the formation and the development of the Ukrainian civil society.
