Abstract
This paper explores the socio-cultural and institutional factors in regulation of interethnic relations in Ukraine. It draws on results of research of public opinion conducting at Institute of social and political psychology NAPS of Ukraine. It shows that the dynamics of public expectations, turbulence of public opinion depends on the situational factors as well as the actions of the government on the territory of regions of Ukraine. Also, the problem of regulation interethnic relations in Ukraine has dual load. Ukraine as a multinational state needs by the efforts to maintain and further improve interethnic relations and ensure the protection of minority rights in the interest of peace and harmony in society. At the same time, the problem of national consolidation and unity can be solved by the formation of the Ukrainian political nation that is born today in a deep system crisis and foreign military intervention.
