Abstract

This manual is an adaptation to the Ukrainian psychological practice of the book "Techniques of grief therapy: Assessment and intervention" (R. A. Neimeyer, 2015). Based on integrative-constructivist and resource approaches, the model of reconstruction of the meaning of loss is considered, which consists in processing the "event history" of death, its consequences for life and integration of previous life experience for effective functioning in the modern world. The manual consists of theoretical, psychodiagnostic and psychotherapeutic sections; modern views on the problem of grief and grief therapy in the context of developmental theories, theories of attachment, coping and trauma are analyzed; methods of assessing the severity and features of grief, the negative and positive effects of grief on everyday life are given; the possibilities of grief therapy and self-help in case of loss are determined. The manual is addressed to psychologists, social workers, university students and anyone interested in psychological help for a person experiencing grief.
