Abstract

Three Ukrainian revolutions — 1990, 2004–2005, and 2013–2014 — showed how critical the presence or loss of public recognition, that is, legitimation, is to the normal operation and even the very existence of a state structure. The loss of public legitimation is the political death of the existing establishment. However, this is only the final stage of those processes of value reorientation of society, which begins with secondary socialization in the education system, at school and at the university. In general, the term “legitimation” is now used very widely, but not always appropriately and correctly, which leads to a misunderstanding. The correct use of terminology can bring many benefits. By following the procedure indicated by the term "legitimization", you can change society.
