Abstract

Article considers the problem of professional preparation of mentally retarded persons to work for institutions of health care and social services. The analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature on the social adaptation of mentally retarded people is accomplished. It is noted that considerable attention was devoted mainly socialization of schools' graduates by supporting socioprofessional and socio-domestical adaptation. There was revealed the actual problematic regarding the purposeful process of professional self-determination of mentally-impaired people. The mechanisms of interaction of various institutions interested in the employment of persons with intellectual disabilities are pointed through the implementation of social partnership and labor routes. The necessity of attracting volunteers is justified in respect to the process of targeted support of persons with intellectual disabilities during professional preparation. The main tendencies of future cooperation between the social partners are outlined in addressing the issue of professional self-realization of mentally-impaired persons in order to improve the content and methods of vocational and labor training.
