Abstract
The textbook was compiled in accordance with the curriculum for foreign literature for Grade 5 with changes approved by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 804 of June 7, 2017. It contains the texts of program works, brief information about their authors, the system of questions and assignments, educational articles on literary theory . The analysis of the work in the textbook is divided into several stages, which collectively lead the student from his immediate perception to the in-depth, creating favorable conditions not only for understanding the artistic text, but also for interested in reading it, for gaining immersive experience in the text, for students skills of working with him and the formation of subject and key competencies. The assignments to the text are grouped into headings, which makes them particularly vivid (“Share your reading impressions”, “Take part in the discussion of the work”, “Work on your own”, “For book lovers”). Such a structure causes students to reflect and set on a specific activity. Educational articles are presented in an accessible form, based on the studied works of art.
