Abstract

The article describes the priorities of EU policy in the field of informatization of education in the context of the implementation of the program "Education and Training 2020". The strategic European documents on informatization of education, development of digital competencies, and the use of distance learning in higher education are considered. The infrastructure of the development of distance learning in the Republic of Poland and its perspectives for the national education are outlined. In addition, a comparative description of the use of distance learning in higher education institutions of the Republic of Poland and Ukraine was conducted. In the end, the activities of distance learning centers operating in institutions of higher education of the Republic of Poland are described.
