Abstract

In the article, an analysis is conducted on the scientific and methodological experience of developing the primary school content in historical and contemporary terms. The modern approaches to selecting and forming the content of mathematics teaching for the primary school children under the competence-based approach are described. An emphasis is put on upgrading the training content with a focus on personality and activity results. An analysis on the structural and content components of a key competence of ability to learn is conducted; the features of the subject mathematical competence of junior schoolchildren were figured out.
