Abstract

The article is devoted to gender aspects of creating visual images. There are gender-specific markers, "female" (predominant in women) and "male" (predominant in men) visual stereotypes, as well as a wide range of individual differences in visual activity. The results of studying the differences between female and male creativity on the material of students' fulfillment of the graphic task "Fantastic creature" are presented. The features of visual images typical for men and women are characterized. Typical images of the "fantastic creature" created by men often have similarities with large animals, monsters, demons, dragons. Typical images of the "fantastic creature", created by women, often look like toys, attractive cartoon characters. The features of the image of the "fantastic creature" reflect the gendertypical ways of men and women reacting to existential fear, anxiety and need for security. Gender typical features have a probabilistic connection with the male / female gender of the authors of the drawings. Possible their non-expression, combination or inversion. An important factor in the predominance of female / male markers of visual images is the nature of the professional orientation of the authors.
