Abstract

The urgency of vocational education modernization is being enhanced by European integration processes in order to increase the indicators of innovative and intellectual development as well as socioeconomic growth in Ukraine. It has been found out that the main tools for changing models of vocational education oriented toward the needs of social partners and future specialists are professional and educational standards based on competencies. The analysis of normative documents, methodological sources, analytical materials on the standardization of vocational education proves the need for developing common approaches in order to standardize vocational education of junior specialists in colleges and technical schools. The aim of the article is to justify the main vectors of standardization of junior specialists’ vocational training in colleges and technical schools grounded on competency-based approach in the area of their adjustment to professional standards and the national framework of qualifications. Based on the study of different approaches to standardization of vocational education, it has been determined that vectors of standardization of junior specialists’ vocational training in colleges and technical schools are development of professional and educational standards and additional training for standards developers. The content of basic categories of competency-based approach such as integral competency, professional competencies, key competencies has been characterized; the essence of such concepts as vocational education, specialist, junior specialist has been defined. It has been proved that professional and key competencies should be reflected in methodological approaches to standardization of junior specialists’ vocational training in colleges and technical schools. It has been generalized that in order to develop effective professional standards as the main source of information for the development of educational standards for vocational education with the participation of vocational education teachers, perspective directions for the research are those related to justification of methodical principles of standardization of junior specialists’ vocational education grounded on competency-based approach, taking into account the actual tasks of vocational education, which will optimize vocational training of junior specialists for various economic fields in colleges and technical school in all regions.
