Abstract

The article reveals the essence of the phenomenon of musical improvisation. Traced the peculiarities of teaching musical improvisation in the mass teaching practice of foreign and domestic teachers-musicians at the turn of XIX–XX and throughout the twentieth century. The peculiarities of application of different types of improvisation (vocal, rhythmic, instrumental) as a creative method in music lessons in secondary school. Delineated aspects of formation and development of musical improvisation as one of professional competence in training future music teachers.
