Abstract

In a view of active euro-integrative modernization processes of vocational education and training system in Ukraine there is a need to study the best international practices in the field of vocational education and training. This will extend the use and/or adaptation of effective practical VET forms where the apprenticeship is one of them. The article represents the features and characteristic aspects of apprenticeship in the UK as it is widely used and highly developed. The research is carried out in the light of its historical development (some way) to light-up its evident formation, practical features and structural components while the reforming process. The article also provides the analysis of current official principles for its provision and implementation (Apprenticeship agreement) and standardization features for the training of that type. The article represents the structural components of apprenticeship standards and general criteria to determine their quality, conditions and the Parties’ responsibilities, structural components of the apprenticeship in the United Kingdom. The results of the research conclude that today, no matter how old and traditional the apprenticeship system in the UK is, it is the exact system to provide quality training, according to the employers’ requirements and high competitiveness at labor market. The article also emphasizes on the need to incorporate the research results in the reforming processes of VET system of Ukraine.
