Abstract
The paper studies the creation and usage of authority files of collective authors, individual authors and subject headings at the leading education libraries of Ukraine. The authors of the paper reveals the importance of authority files and authority control for the arrangement of electronic catalogue and providing its quality, especially within cooperation between education libraries while creating a unique information space. The attention is paid to the necessity of using authority control within cooperation between libraries: it will assist unification while creation bibliographic entries for providing maximum accuracy in the process of document handling, and effective search in e-catalogues (databases) at one library as well as within the whole system of education libraries.
