Abstract
The article deals with the life and creative activities, pedagogical views and educational work of the famous educator, didactic, methodist Serhii Myropolskyi (1842-1907). His role in the development of Ukraine’s educational system of that time is revealed, and the possibility of its use in today’s conditions is stressed. Some works of the educator are considered, including those that were published as separate editions and in periodicals of the second half of XIX - beginning of XX century. The author has used the documents from the fund of V. O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific Pedagogical Library of Ukraine for compiling this article.
