Abstract

The book is the theoretical analysis of major trends in the professional development of teachers in Europe and the United States in terms of preparing people for life in the era of knowledge society. The authors analyzed the theoretical approaches to the study on the professional development of teachers in the works of leading scientists and documents of international organizations; outlines key areas of study of the phenomenon of professional development of teachers in the world educational space. In broad factual material authors examine the legislative and legal and regulatory framework of teacher education in the studied countries justifies tendencies training and professional development for teaching staff of educational institutions in Europe and the US, shows modern requirements for the competence profile of the modern educator. Grounded recommendations for creative use of progressive ideas of European and American experience, professional development of teachers in secondary schools to upgrade Ukrainian vocational teacher education at three levels: national, institutional, individual. For researchers and teaching staff, graduate students, doctoral students, teachers and university students, teaching staff of secondary.
