Abstract

The article presents the results of empirical studies that characterize features of negative mental states of serviceman who received combat physical and mental traumas in the anti-terrorist operation area. 167 soldiers participated in the study. More than 80% of them have acute and post-traumatic stress disorders, high rates of neuroticism and expressed disturbances of their mental states. The vast majority of them have significant and longstanding decrease of all self-estimated indicators of a psycho-physiological state (well-being, activity, mood, ability to work, self-confidence, etc.), a high level of trauma shown by the indexes: trauma re-experiencing - "invasion", symptoms of “avoidance" and "physiological hyperactivity"; they also show expressed depression and negative personality changes according to the scales of hypo-chondria and hysteria.
