Abstract

The work reveals the experience of studying the situation of rhetorical and communicative culture in modern European university. The rhetorical and communicative culture of the modern university is identified as the object of interdisciplinary research of the higher school and educational leadership. This involves a complex study of the role and objectives, components and factors of formation of rhetorical and communicative culture elitist personality in conditions of higher education and ways of advanced training and of self-perfection of the rhetorician-educator as a citizen and professional in his craft, as well as an organizer and a leader in multifaceted process of life activity of the modern university. In our work we rely on the experience of pioneering attempt to synthesize the specific interdisciplinary international rhetorical events and actions in recent years with the participation of representatives of university and academic elite of Ukrainian and foreign institutions and organizations, including our participation in the International Conference “Rhetoric in Europe” (Saarbrücken, 2013). We are working on the publications in different languages from early 2000s dedicated to rhetoric, oratory and culture of speech communication with the works in the source languages of rhetoric researchers and rhetoricians from many modern universities in Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and United Kingdom. We continue to study the best Ukrainian and international practices of above mentioned problems. We are forming the groundwork for the establishment of Ukrainian Rhetorical Association (URA); we are reforming the activity of Author's Rhetorical Culture Center (Kyiv). The paper of the authoress in contemporary rhetorical and communicative culture of modern European university is done within the individual research topics “Contemporary rhetorical and communicative culture in modern European University as an integrative factor in the formation of the academic elite” and it is presented for the participation in the International Scientific Conference “Rhetoric and the forms of European culture: From tradition to contemporary challenges” (Kaunas, Lithuania, May 6–7th, 2016).
