Abstract

For the first time on the basis of archival and documentary sources the contribution of the scientists of the Research institute of psychology of Ukr. SSR's Ministry of education into the development of pedagogical psychology during the early years of this establishment is revealed. Areas of study and scientific products, their influence on further exploration of the processes of learning and understanding of educational material by preschool- and school-age children are shown in the context of individualization of the teaching and educational process. Taking into account political and ideological peculiarities of the historical period, the specific features of scientific activities of the institution and shortcomings in its performance (absence of thorough experimental research) are described. The use of previously unknown facts gave the opportunity to put into operation more accurate information about the functioning of the Institute and development of pedagogical psychology in Ukraine.
